When do Pomeranians start the ‘puppy ugly stage’?

Question by mei: When do Pomeranians start the ‘puppy ugly stage’?
Well I heard that Pomeranians will lose its fur for a while and it’ll grow back again. And I also heard that in America, the puppies starts the puppy ugly stage about when he’s 5 months old. But here in the Philippines, I wonder how old will it start the puppy ugly stage. Maybe it will be different because the weather here is hot and all. But I don’t know, anyone who knows? I’m really curious cause I’m gonna own one someday.. :)

Pomeranians start their puppy ugly stage at about 5-6 months.
You might not even notice it, because your puppy will still look pretty cute to you.
I was horrified the other day when I went back and looked at puppy pictures of my Pomeranian.
I never thought he looked ugly until I looked at those photos.

5-6 months old usually. My sisters started at 4 months and is STILL going through it at 7 months. (He’s fluffy again but still doesn’t have a full coat) I’m not sure if hot weather has much to do with it. The general rule of thumb is 5-6 months.

It has nothing to do with the weather, it is a normal growth stage when the face clears out leaving them with a “monkey” face. My friend breeds show poms (for 40 yrs) and she calls it the “monkeys’ and It usually happens around the 3-4 months age range. At 7-9 months they go through a period where they loose their puppy coat and their adult coat starts to come in (as with all heavy coated breeds). Again it has nothing to do with location, it;s a normal growth stage of the coat.
